Focus and Scope

Pattola Syaraq: Journal of Fatwa and Religious Social Affairs is a scientific journal focusing on the study of fatwas and religious social issues from an Islamic perspective. This journal aims to serve as a platform for academics, researchers, scholars (*ulama*), and practitioners to publish research findings, in-depth studies, and critical thoughts relevant to the dynamics of fatwas and the role of religion in the social life of contemporary society.

1. Focus

This journal primarily focuses on:

  • Contemporary Fatwa and Fiqh: Studies on the issuance of fatwas, the methodology of legal deduction (*istinbat*), and the response of fatwas to various actual issues in society.
  • Religion and Social Affairs: The interaction between Islamic teachings and various dimensions of social life, including socio-cultural, economic, political, health, environmental, gender, and technological aspects.
  • Religious Dynamics in Society: Studies on fatwas, Islamic preaching (*da'wah*), and religious responses to social changes, modernization, and contemporary challenges.

The journal accepts articles covering (but not limited to) the following topics:

A. Fatwa Studies

  • Methodology of formulating and implementing fatwas.
  • Fatwas from *madhhab* (schools of thought) and cross-madhhab perspectives.

  • Radicalism, religious moderation, and *Wasatiyyah* (moderate) Islam.

C. Islamic Law and Society

  • *Fiqh muamalah* (Islamic commercial law), Sharia economics, and Islamic finance.
  • Islamic family law (*ahwal syakhsiyyah*).
  • Islam and human rights, gender, and social justice.
  • Islamic responses to global issues (climate change, AI, bioethics, etc.).

D. Social and Cultural Studies

  • Local traditions and Islam (customs and culture of Sulawesi and the Archipelago).
  • Sociology of religion and Islamic anthropology.
  • *Da'wah* (preaching) and religious communication in society.

This journal prioritizes articles based on empirical research, case studies, in-depth literature reviews, and conceptual articles that offer scientific contributions and relevance to the development of Muslim societies, particularly in Indonesia and Southeast Asia.
